Nermin Er Nermin Er was born, works and lives in Istanbul. She graduated from Mimar Sinan University Fine Arts Sculpture Department in 1995. She has been represented by Gallery Nev Istanbul since 2004, having solo shows in 2004, 2009, 2011 and 2015. Alongside which she has partaken in “Oyun” (Game), mental:KLİNİK, Istanbul (2002); “Hırsız Kent” (Thieving City), Aksanat, Istanbul (2004); “Alis Alice’e Karşı” (Alis vs Alice), K2, Izmir (2005); “TeleKent” (TeleCity), Siemens Sanat Galerisi (Siemens Art Gallery), Istanbul (2005); “Sanatçı Seçimi” (Artist’s Choice), Helene Nyborg Contemporary, Copenhagen (2006); Grafist, Istanbul (2012); “Lütfen Rahatsız Etmeyin” (Please Do Not Disturb), Istanbul Modern (2013); “Dünyadan Çıkış Yolları” (Ways Out From The World), Cappadox, Cappadocia (2017); “Dark Deep and Darkness”, Galerist (2017); and “Aile Yemeği” (Family Dinner) Galeri Nev Istanbul (2017) group shows.
Working for many years in animation, Nermin Er uses a minimal language with the paper-based materials, and creates stories through the use of light and shadow. Fictionalized cinematographically with silhouettes, she interprets and comments on factors within daily life such as people, the city and nature. She has also produced installation and video works.
